About Krista

out for a paddle

I love kids (I have one, I’m a godmother to another, and an “auntie” to many).  I love families.  I see so many of them struggling to help their kids thrive at home, at school, with their friends.  And I want to be a part of the solution.  Wellness is our birthright but our culture has overcomplicated it, and in response, many of us have become exhausted and overwhelmed.  It doesn’t have to be this way.

  • Our bodies are wise.

  • Our bodies have an innate capacity to heal.

  • Our bodies are programmed to be resilient and healthy.

I grew up camping, hiking, and scuba diving as a child. I learned, through my own experiences, just how healing the connection to nature is to our bodies and minds. Science now backs the virtues of getting outside and being immersed in nature.

As a Navy pilot, I was stationed overseas (in Italy) and was blessed to experience and live the Mediterranean Lifestyle. I saw the power of eating locally and in-season. Of buying food from the people who grow it. Of taking time to sit and eat, slowly, with friend and loved ones. And of taking walks (also with friends and family) before and after meals. When I learned later, in grad school, the Mediterranean diet is one of the most health-promoting diets in the world (for both physical and mental health), I was not at all surprised. I lived it and felt the benefits.

But the most impactful lesson I learned while getting my Master’s degrees is that if we listen to the messages our body sends us (through our joys & sorrows, our symptoms & illnesses) and then give our body the inputs it wants (play, rest, laughter, vitamins & minerals, etc.), in return, our body will give us the health and well-being we desire.

That’s what I do.  Through education and partnership, I help empower parents and care-givers to determine the inputs their children are missing or that need tweaking - and the ones that are working!  Together, we connect the dots between health & behavior and lifestyle & nutrition and make simple adjustments.  Your children’s nutrient intakes and activities (e.g. sleep, movement, play, etc.) have a powerful impact on their wellness.  Food and lifestyle inputs can trigger anxiety, depression, obesity, allergies, asthma, outbursts, bedwetting, and a whole host of other health complaints and challenging situations. They can also impact sleep and mood.

The exciting thing?! There are simple strategies and techniques you can implement to make profound changes in your child’s mood, behavior, and health.

So how can I begin supporting you and your family?
